3D Book Illustrations

These are 3D illustrations I made for American Technical Publishers for various usage in their books or capability demonstrations for clients.
Their website can be found here: http://www.atplearning.com/
These were created in SketchUp and then rendered in Thea Render or output in EPS for line-art in Adobe Illustrator.

I created this composite image of the American Technical Publishers building (located in Orland Park, IL) using SketchUp, Thea Render, and compositing in Photoshop.

This is an exploded view render of all 3 floors of the ATP building I created in SketchUp. Also shown is the HVAC system, suspended above the structure.

Rendered animation of entering the building starting with a composite fade of the HVAC system.

The isolated HVAC system in SketchUp, used for book illustrations and color coded to depict inflow and outflow. The skeletal structure of the building is imported from the architect's Revit model.

Cutway image of the ATP building created in SketchUp.

This is an animation done straight from SketchUp. It's a little rough in spots animation-wise, but the model is very accurate, down to the number of ceiling tiles and exact placement of air ducts (some liberties were taken as it's a LEED-certified system)

Creation process of the interior 3rd floor foyer, starting with the geo I imported from the architect's Revit file. The bottom image shows what I created to fit that space in SketchUp.

After the SketchUp model was completed, I did render tests in different day/night conditions using Thea Render.

These are additional 3D models created for use in the book depicting motors, a residential HVAC assembly, and a residential air conditioning unit.

This is a residential air conditioning unit that I created in SketchUp, rendered in Thea Render, and composited in Photoshop.
